Hello, I know this subject has been addressed many times before - however, I searched and didn't find any new information that would help my situation. I inherited a network with 65+ users. Previous IT took easy way out (IMHO) and used all lowercase letters for creation of network and exchange accounts. Since I came, I've used typical use of case for more professional look; i.e., Joe Blow instead of joe blow. Now some folks have noticed and the earlier existing users are complaining they want theirs to look like my way. How hard could that be? hah! I've tried everything I can find for tips. Renamed user object in AD, changed alias name, changed display name, fiddled with cache mode, waited the obligatory 30 days(slight exaggeration) for everything to update in Exchange. No matter what, the To: and From: and address list continues to display the old lowercase version. If someone has "new" tips I haven't tried, I dare you to help me solve this(lol). I'll be a hero to my users and forever grateful to you. Thanks, JG

Think you need to change the alias.

Kurio, thanks for your input. Unfortunately, I tried that too and didn't make a difference. I appreciate your taking time to offer assistance. jg

No worries, need to escalate the ticket up the hierarchy.

For what it's worth - here's what I'm changing: Username in A/D, "Display Name" under General tab, "Alias" under Exchange General tab. Then I'm "forcing" the GAL update. At that point I notice if I select the To: in new message, bringing up the address book, the user's name listing has changed. However, if I simply begin typing the person's name, it still shows as the "old name". I'm thinking that's because it's still that way in my local address book - because when I manually update my address book, it changes to the correct new name.

Soooo, question is how do I make the change appear to all users without asking every user to manually update their local address book? Or is there truly an automatic sync that will eventually pick this up permanently?

Thanks again....jg

Could it be the autocomplete cache?

Yes, I'm sure it is since it's happening locally. Everything has been changed on the server, but not the autocomplete. Problem is, that's what we all use - the autocomplete. So nobody will experience the benefit of my changing the names unless everybody clears or changes their autocomplete; unless of course there's a way to force that :)

Yep, what version of mail client are the users using? Outlook 2010 does something different now as usual. It's an .nk2 file.

Up to and including Outlook 2007 there is an nk2 file with the same name as the outlook profile. Bin those on the clients.

Outlook 2010 has a hidden folder in the mailbox that will need emptying.
