I use Fire Fox as my browser.

On my desktop, I had a .html file (with no icon - thats why I was messing with it).

I renamed the file: bookmarks.html to bookmarks.url

It turned the icon into a 'shortcut' for IE.

Now, I cannot right-click & send to an editor ... or open it. If I rename it to .html, it doesn't matter ... still looks like a shortcut.

What happened? Any way to revert this back?

You could try System Restore.

You can look up "associate a file name extension with a file type" in the Help and Support program also.
