Rename user account doesn't rename local profile

Hi there,

We use NDS to look after our user accounts and also have an NT4.0 domain. The accounts in NDS and the domain are synchronised.

My problem is that when we rename a user account to a completley different name from what it was, the user is able to login with the new name, but the local profile doesn't change it keeps the previous name. With it being a completley different name I would of thought it would create a new profile ?

We don't use roaming profiles and we don't use the profile path option in either NDS or the domain.

My guess is that this is working as designed, as I have tested this on my local win2k machine on a local account and the same happens.

I'm just looking for clarification to confirm that my thinking is correct ?

Thanks
David

You're correct. Changing an account name doesn't change the profile directory name.
