Hi all,
I have an .exe that I control a robot on COM1 (all this on win98).
The .exe has been compiled to output to COM1 and no way to change.

Now that the COM1 port is physically damaged, I got a usb-rs232.
But this leaves me on COM3 and I have the runs on COM1.
How can I do to turn in COM1 COM3?

thank you very much
bye

Well, you could disable com1( easiest way is to go into the bios and turn off the serial ports, this will not effect the usb to serial. After rebooting, go into device manager and you should be able to change the com number on the usb to serial port to com 1.

If you are unable to disable the com ports in bios, then in device manager, select the serial port that is com1, and in it's properties see if you can assign it to com 5 or other free com port. If so, then you can change com 3 to com 1, and than change the port you originally changed to com 3. To help avoid a possible conflict you may have created when you changed com 1 the first time.
