Rename account in NDS and in GroupWise

I haven't been able to find information regarding renaming an NDS account and sychronizing it with a co-ordinating rename of the GroupWise account. I want this process to be seamless to the user (who is fairly high up on the "food chain").

1. Do I rename the nds account first?
2. How do I ensure the links between the nds account and the groupwise account are maintained?
3. How long does this process take? (there is no change of context or post office in this case, but the information does need to update across the entire network which is across the country, 16 servers in total).

Any advice or associated tid references would be appreciated.
 
This is what I do:

1. Highlight user object in NDS view
2. Select OBJECT / Rename.
3. Enter new user ID and click OK.
4. Double-click user object, then click GroupWise Account tab.
5. Change "Mailbox ID" to match new user ID.
6. From Windows Explorer, rename the user's home directory to match their new user ID.
7. Click "Environment" in the user object details and change the user's home directory accordingly.

At this point, it might be helpful to sync the user's NDS and GroupWise accounts to each other by selecting GroupWise Utilities |Synchronize . You could also highlight the user's GroupWise post office and select "System Maintenance" > 'Rebuild Indexes for Listing' to make sure the address book reflects the new user ID. I'm not sure these steps are needed, but it makes me feel better to do them.


For what it's worth, I've never had any negative fallout from following this procedure for renaming users.
