I have 150 pictures of college students which where taking with a digital camera. The Digtal camera names the files in format DC128973.jpg. I have all the names of the students in excel spreadsheet in the order the pictures where taken. Is they a way of renaming the files with the names contained within the spreadsheet. I want the new file format to been James_Willams.jpg

Yes, there is more than one way you can do this. The question's I have for you now is...

Are you wanting to do this in excel's vba environment or are you wanting to use vb???

You can search this site for "reading excel files" to get your answer on how to read the contents of the cells in an excel spreed sheet.

One thing that I hope you have is a cross reference in your excel spreed sheet. By this I mean you have the origional file name and the name that you want to rename the file to.

You then can use the Name function to rename all of your files.

Good Luck
