1. Log on as administrator and use system restore to restore to a point before the programwas installed.
Or
2. Log on as administrator and use add/remove programs or, if present, the unistaller for the program.
OR
3. As administrator, take ownership of the folder where the program resides, give administrator full control, and delete it manually. If you do it this way make sure that you delete all references to it in the registry.
It may not be write protected-it may actually be in use.
You can boot to safe mode(in windows) and delete the file or exe that is running. type tasklist in a command window(start>run>cmd.exe) and type tasklist.
This will show you all running processes and you can see if you recognise the program.
I had that issue while trying to uninstall Acrobat, it was saying that its in use and I have to close it and try again. I know no major apps was running. but to verify, I went to the task mgr, found and killed it under process running and was able to continue
