removing windows 98 partition

Hello All,

I have a AMD athlon computer with two partitions, partition 1 is windows 98 and partition 2 is windows 2000. I would like to remove the windows 98 partition and merge with the windows 2000. I would appreciate if you could help me out in removing the win 98 partition and merge with windows 2000.

If you merge the partitions you may loose access to your Windows 2000 system, as the partition table will change & the boot manager will not be able to recognise the partitions correctly. If your Windows 2000 is on the first partition you may not have a problem,but if it is on the second as you imply, you probably will have problems.
You may be better off re-installing the entire system after you have merged the partitions. If you attempt a merge though, backup all of your data first.

As an alternate solution make the 98 partition as small as possible. It has been a while but if I recall correctly the minimum is somewhere around 130mb. It would require that you clean it off before reducing it.

well, u should be looking for Acronis Disk Director.
This is disk managment software able to delete/split/merge/resize partitions.
to avoid bootin problems kestrel was speaking about this soft has automatic operating system detection feature.
besides it's much cheaper then PM.
