I am trying to remove a VLAN from my Cisco Catalyst 3500 XL and when I try to remove the vlan using the VLAN database I get an error stating In Client State no apply attempted. Any help would be great on what this means and how to remove the unneeded VLAN's. Thanks

if its in client mode, that means you need to remove the VLAN from the switch that is controlling the VLAN (server mode). you should post a show vtp status.

Thanks, I was able to set the transparent mode and remove the VLANS.

Just be careful that you will loose any benefits of VTP by changing over to transparent. You will no longer be able to add a vlan to multiple switches by only changing the server.

However, I don't really even condone using VTP. Problem is that unless you are using VTP v3 you can't use vlans over 1024.

My environment has only two switches, so I don't believe I would benefit from having VLANS

My environment has only two switches, so I don't believe I would benefit from having VLANS, during upgrades I will just reconfigure the system back to a domain config.
