Removing users from Sharepoint

I have Sharepoint Prtal 2003. I recently added a user to have read permissions to a portal site. The user has since left the company so I have removed her from Active Directory. Sharepoint still shows her as a user and when I go to remove her I get an error stating it is an invalid SID. Any idea how to remove the user?

you have to manually delete users from the user profiles database in sharepoint. i dont have sps2003 right now but i remember it being somewhere in central admin, user profiles. same place where you upload profiles.
