Hello

I have a question about Crystal XI cross tabs. I am doing a payroll report on employees, totalled by type of pay. If I throw in employee number and then name, it totals by each item. Employees can only have one empl. #, so the total here is completely unnecessary. I can't figure out how to remove extraneous totals.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried going into the Cross-tab expert and clicking on the "Customize style" tab? From there, click on row that you want to take out the subtotals. Example, i haev an Item Catagory and Item Report i'm working on now. Item cataogry has multiple items. I click on ITem Catagory, and put a check mark in "Suppress subtotal" box. That sounds like what you are looking for.

If this does not accomplish the task, let us know.

Great. That appears to have worked.

This might seem silly, but why does the CR crosstab report wizard only appear at certain times on an existing xtab? Just curious about what I need to do to get back to some of those options.

Thanks.

Not a silly question. i wish i knew the answer. I have learned that you really need to explore with right-click. Depending on what section of the cross tab you are in, you get different options. sometimes you can suppres totals, Format fields, edit summaries, and sometimes you can't. I don't get it either.

good luck...

The Cross-Tab expert is only invoked when you right-click on the top left hand cell of the Cross-Tab. Right Clicking on any other cell calls a different menu.

In design or preview view? I've tried this and it's not working for some reason.

Thanks.

ps

In either view.

Right click the blank cell in the top left hand corner of the cross tab and choose Cross-Tab Expert from the subsequent menu.

In the preview, the blank cell should appear in the top left hand cel of each page and in the design view it is simply the top left hand cell.

When you turned the totals off, did you have any issues with the spacing of the xtab?

Meaning, if in design view the bottom of your xtab is at the bottom of the section. After turning the totals off, in preview, there is extra white space between the bottom of the xtab and the bottom of the section. It appears that when you hide xtab totals, CR still leaves blank space at the bottom of the xtab.
