How do I remove some of the running programs that show up on the crtl+alt+del menu. I know I can't close Explorer and Systray but I would like to remove some of the other unnecessary programs. My computer takes forever to boot up and I'd like to speed up that process. Thanks! [sig][/sig]

run msconfig and start unchecking startup things in that list. [sig]<p>Karl<br><a href=mailto:kb244@kb244.com>kb244@kb244.com</a><br><a href= </a><br>Experienced in : C++(both VC++ and Borland),VB1(dos) thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, HTML, Visual InterDev 6(ASP(WebProgramming/Vbscript)<br>

MSconfig is the way to go. I've played with a shareware program called Startup Cop that seems to be a little friendlier for &quot;end users&quot;. It offers the options: &quot;Disble&quot; (kill a running process) or &quot;Pack for Removal&quot; (disable now and, after a reboot, if your machine still works properly, you have the option to remove the offending process from start up).

Great stuff for a home system where apps are contstantly installed and removed. (I would never let my work machines get to that state of disarray.)

P.S. AUG4570, what sort of work do you do?
