Removing sessions with status 'KILLED' ... how?

Currently on one of my servers I have a number of sessions with status of 'KILLED'.

The applications that belonged to these sessions have been stopped yet the sessions still remain (with status of 'KILLED').

How do I remove these or will Oracle sooner or later remove them on it's own (SMON or PMON?)?
