When you bring up the xp photo wizard to print a picture you not only see that pictureyou want to print but pictures you have had, printed Etc.

I need to clear those photos out.

I purchased a laptop for my kid from a friend and I do not what to format it just to get rid of his "OLD PICTURES" if I do not have to.

The photos in question are not on the machine anymore just in the photo wizard.
Must be some kind of cache.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By way of a rough guess, see if you have (and delete) any Thumbs.db file in the image folders and subfolders, these are hidden and system files so make sure you have the options set to see them (Folder Options/ View). Windows will automatically recreate them if it requires them, but this action may be affected by the next suggestion.

In Folder Options under View have you could look at "Do Not Cache Thumbnails" and experiment with checking and unchecking that?

This disables automatic storage of folder thumbnails in a cache file. When you store thumbnail images in a cache file, Windows can reuse them instead of creating new ones every time you open a folder. If you disable this automatic storage function, folders that contain thumbnails might take longer to open.

Your view settings or customizations for a folder are lost or incorrect
