Ok, I have a feeling I will have bad news for this user, but apparently during an upgrade from Outlook 98 to OL2000 SR1, the user's PST file got corrupted. A password was set on it and we can't get passed it. Found a hack but it was a demo and only reveiled the first 2 characters of the password "01". Nice huh! Anyway has anyone come across this problem before and if so, any fix for it. Can't do anything with importing it to another file because of the password protection. Basturd Microsoft!!!

Do a search for SCANPST.exe and run it. It should repair the corrupted pst.

Hanson, thanks, but I have tried it. The file doesn't even show as corrupt. It is the weirdest thing. Anyway if you can think of any nifty ideas for hacking the registry, that might work. I scoured it and really didn't know what to look for. Thanks for the reply though.

I don't know what .pst hack utility that you have tried but try using the PST19UPG utility. This utility removes the password from the .pst file so that you can open the file. Be sure to make a backup copy of the .pst first. This utility has worked for me in the past.
