I am running SMS SP5 on W2K SP3 on its own server, have about 300 clients and 4 DC's (NT4 SP6a) and have a problem with configuration. I rebuilt the SMS box with exact configuration of the old server and did not have any problems-for a while.
Now, when I try to update certain client machines, I get "Update Sites Failed."
With further checking I discovered that an old SMS Site configuration (BAD) was listed on each DC in addition to my Site (NEW).
Also, I get the "#$#$#$#$#$ Error" appearing in my Clisvc.log file.
Here is what I have tried:
*I have used clicln20.bat, deleted NAL and SMS from registry, and then reinstalled to no avail on the clients (Update Sites Failed).
*I have deleted references to the BAD site on the DC's and then used smsman.exe and pointed to the specific server to no avail.
*Used clicln20.bat and then logged on for SMS script to run - the client installs, but I cannot update configuration on sites tab.
Can I remove SMS logon points from DC's and have SMS reinstall?
Why do some clients work and others do not?
Why is the BAD site propagate to all DC's when it does not even exist?
Thanks in advance.
