I have a logical volume that can not be found anywhere on the system but shows up in the list of logical volumes:

lv01 ??? 80 80 1 closed/syncd N/A

I have tried to remove it through SMIT but this is the response i get:

0516-306 getlvodm: Unable to find lv01 in the Device
Configuration Database.
0516-912 rmlv: Unable to remove logical volume lv01.

Any way to get rid of this logical volume?

Thanks in advance.

You could try lreducelv or ldeletelv. They are low level undocumented LVM commands that bypass any checking done by commands like reducevg, etc. Normally you would only run these at the direction of AIX support.

You can also search the odm with odmget and delete the entry with odmdelete.

It is definetly as what kHz said. I think you have ODM inconsistancy problems.

varyoffvg, exportvg and then importvg might also clean things up.
