Hi all,

I am in the process of attempting to remove non-existent clients from the Symantec Centre Console. I have run a .vbs script which pulls the last login/logout date from AD, however, since these are user names they have to be somehow related to the actual computer name shown in SCC.

Does anyone have a really simple (or even somewhat simple) way of removing non-existent clients? Short of the auto-delete option (which requires a restart of the Symantec server) this vbs script was the best I can do.

Surely there must be an easier way to get at and remove non-existent clients?

On NAVCE 7.5, you simply highlight the client in the SSC and push the Delete button on your keyboard.

Thank you for the answer but the question wasn't how to delete but an easy way to determine non-existent clients that can be deleted.

Thanks,

Please re-read your first post... You don't mention a method to determine which clients are no longer there.

You could run a system-wide virus sweep, and any client that doesn't respond is turned off.

in Version 8, the clients will automatically be deleted, when they did´nt check in the last 30 days (i think it was 30 days..)

there´s an option in the ssc console , indicates clients, that are offline

by this way, you will also see non existent clients...

Lawnboy thanks, but that was what the VBS last login script was for. i was simply asking for an easier way to remove them short of comparing AD users with actual SCC computers.

And many thanks to you tgbbz!!! Thanks!

Actually LawnBoy, he's pretty clear that he's lookging for clients that aren't there any longer, thus the "non-existant" clients that he keeps referring to. ;-)

tgbbz is correct, if a client doesn't "check-in" for 30 days, it will drop off the list. You could also just check the snap-in to see what version clients are on and if you find old versions, odds are the systems are no longer present and can be deleted, or checked to see why they're not getting the updates if they're still on the network.

It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

It's clear to everybody but me, guess I'm just dense this morning...

Hahaha. Thanks Lander215. And you too Lawnboy.
