Hello all,
Is there a simpe way of removing line break characters from an Excel cell I have a column of data that was exported from Lotus Approach db. When opened in Excel there are several line break characters throughout the text. I need to strip these out and have over 1500 rows.

(I tried various other export options from Lotus Approach (including text file, csv and tab delimited, but on opening in Excel the data is formatted incorrectly so if there is a way of stripping out line breaks it would probably be the simpler option) . . .

thanks,

Here's a simple "shoot from the hip" response:

Try copying the character (to the clipboard), and then simply use Search and Replace (Control H) where you paste the character in to what you are searching for, and of course leave the replacement character as BLANK.

Hope this works.

- yes there are multiple line breaks within cells.

I already tried what Dale was suggesting beofre I posted.
The excel "find what" window does not show anything when you 'paste' the character, so I can't replace the char.

At the moment the ss is in Arial font and the line breaks appear as small boxes.I was looking at the Character Map for Arial and when you cut and paste from here into the Excel "find what" window the samll box appears. If I got the correct character for line break (there are several small boxes)would this work when finding nd replacing do you think ?
