Removing Interdev Project from Sourcesafe

When I open a project in Visual Interdev and attempt to remove it from Source Control i.e. Go to Project/Source Control/Disconnect Web project, it says that the project had been successfully removed from Source Control. But all the files are still read only and if you select a file it still asks you to check it out. Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong.

Any help is much appreciated!
