Removing http:// when creating hyperlinks

Ok, we all know how to create hyperlinks. No big deal there. But is there a way to remove the http:// from the dialog box when creating a new link? I would say 9 times out of 10 I end up pasting my links. I end up having to select the http:// and then pasting my link over it.

It's not a huge deal. It's just an extra step that I would like to remove if possible.
