Removing exchange from BES server

I have just migrated our exchange from older server running exchange 2000 and BES 4.1, to a new server running exchange 2003. Everything is working great. I do not want to migrate/reinstall BES on the new exchange server but I need to uninstall the old exchange due to storage issues. Can I uninstall exchange from the old server without disrupting BES?
 
What you have to do in short:

- Make sure your BESAdmin account has the necessary rights on your new exchange 2003 server, send and receive rights + full mailbox rights
- On your BES server edit your MAPI Profile to your new server
- Restart BES
- Uninstall exchange 2000
