Removing Entire Farm - Question

Hello everyone-

Quickie here...

I am about to remove my entire farm of XP FR3 Servers ONE BY ONE so I can rebuild a new farm with PS4.

Someone told me to start by removing (uninstalling Citrix) from my DataCollector(s) first. Does this sound right?

1. Remove Citrix from DataCollector; Re-image w/ my PS4 Image;
2. Then, remove Citrix from my Backup DataCollector; Re-image with PS4 Image;

What happens to my exising farm after both DataCollectors are gone- will I even be able to open a CMC at this point?

Any suggestions??

There is only one Zone Data Collector (ZDC) per Zone. If you uninstall Citrix from the server that is the ZDC, an election will be held and another server will become the ZDC. There is no such thing as a backup ZDC. If this is how you are going to do your upgrade, it really doesn't matter which server you start with. If you plan to do an in-place upgrade you should start with your ZDCs.

Koonan- Let me clarify-

I know there is only one ZDC per farm- I know though, after I remove the "PREFERRED" ZDC, an election will happen and then my "MOST PREFERRED" (aka BACKUP ZDC) will be elected- so, that's what I meant by 'backup'- so in theory, there is a backup ZDC.

ok, so now that is said, will I be able to open the Farm CMC once both of these guys are removed? I'm assuming that an election will keep taking place and in random order and a new server (which all servers are set with 'default' preferences except the first server in the farm) will be elected as the ZDC.... ??
