Hello,

My company was previously using Livelink software for email archiving, but has recently converted to using the archiving feature within Exchange Server. They automatically converted most users, but a few of us did not have all of our email moved. In my case, about 12,000 emails were skipped. Because a few users were not properly relocated the Livelink server is operating - for now - but I need to find a way to move these emails back into a useable form without the Livelink server. The solution proposed by IT was to open each email individually, then save or forward the email to my account. This would be extremely time consuming. Are there methods to remove or save the emails in bulk? If emails can be archived in bulk, they must be able to be un-archived in bulk? I have had little luck finding information on using this software. I am open to solutions that I am able to do as a user, or those that I can propose to our IT group.

Any help would be most appreciated!

This may be a long post but I will share what I know about how one would go about this
a)Find an old email in your livelink note its dataid and find its subtype
b)If the subtype is a compund email subtype I think it may be 751 then you were using the real email archiving solution which in turn consists of a bridge computer, archive server and livelink.
c)It is a good possibility that attachments were single instanced into a archive server
d)To make the mail object in livelink the bridge software users LAPI
e)When retreiving it again uses lapi to do the job,but there is some advanced handling so that the attachments in the mail are recomposed so it looks to the user as an embedded out look email. This is beacuse the attachments are split and single instanced in the original archiving process so the body sits in one archive and the attachment may very well be a different archive document. There are api methods available in archive server as well but archive server has no information about the leading applicationa and that info is mostly "technical"

Using lapi one can download the mail objects and if they are of mimetype msg then you can load them into livelink.
You may want to talk to somebody who knows the livelink email solution well so you have better luck.

I would look very closely in livelink for the subtypes of the mails and plan a solution based on that

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Thank you for the information appnair. How would I find the dataid and subtype? I could not find it in the email properties, source, etc.
Thanks.

If you look at the URL for the properties page it will contain something like OBJID= and that value is the DATAID in the DTREE, and other, table, the SUBTYPE column in the same table can be used to look up the subtype at
