How can I remove the default shares (C$,D$... ) on NT Workstation. When I stop sharing, it comes back again after restarting the workstation.

Open regedit and check:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Parameters. You should create a value (DWORD) called AutoShareWks for workstation and AutoShareServer for server, set the value to 0. After your next reboot the are gone...

Regards

Lars

Easiest way - Run poledit, select local registry, close and save. The default settings in policy editor will remove the shares they are configured under the Networking section.
Robin Ptasiuk
rptasiuk@home.com

MCSE, MCT
