removing codecs playing mpg

Hi

I installed a load of codeces. (A pack called nimo).

Since then my movies are v jerky when played at 200% (900mhz athlon geforce2)

I uninstalled the pack, but still have the problem. I get the feeling the codecs I wanted to remove are still lurking about somewhere on the harddrive. How do I find them and get rid of them?
