I need to remove or reset the default IP address for an IP expansion cabinet on my CS1000 rls 4.5W. It appears I can do this in load 117 with the RST IPR command. I guess I should do a RST IPM also? Has anyone done this and do I simply Update DBS once I make the changes or do I have to reboot the switch?

the manual would not request a restart.. IF you can get a maint window.. restart the box. it may keep it from restarting at the worse possible time..

what sort of switch is it E, T, S or B? Nearly all the same except E...

CS1000S. The old opt11C wall mount cabinets

For SLAN
With an S you set the MAC (on IP Daughter card) and IP addresses in 117 and reboot the cabinet IP issuesd by BootP.

=>CHG IPR <cab No.> <MAC Addr> <IP Addr> <Mask>

Take a look at existing prt IPR and IPM in 117. If your just not using it don't worry about it just switch it off. Original values have IP 0.0.0.0 with 24 bit mask but this doesn't need setting back.

If you are talking about an ELAN for a survivable cabinet for instance you shout just be able to out the host in 117.

For a host name of EXPN_2 on cabinet 2 command would be:

=>out host EXPN_2 2

It has an SLAN. The problem is when we power down the expansion cabinet the main cabinet bombards the customer network with broadcast messages as it searches for the expansion. I was hoping to reset the IPR and IPM in the main to the defaults then power down the expansion.

RST IPR x
Restores the default IP connectivity configuration for the IP Expansion cabinet end of the specified port, where:
• x = 1-4

RST IPM x
Restores the default IP connectivity configuration for the Main cabinet end of the specified port, where:
• x = 1-4
