I would like to remove some of the entries in the Neighborhood network. One tip I got was to edit the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\ and add value, Hidden, REG_DWORD and Data field =1. Im reluctant to edit the registry, so Im looking for another way of doing this - preferably remotely. Any help appreciated.

You need to remove the computers from the network and delete their entries in the DNS. Once the DNS updates itself and replicates the new entries all should be well in the world. For DNS read also master browser...

rather than the registry hack, you can achieve same result with<br>

net config server /hidden:yes <br>
<br>
see <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> for more info.<br>

Removing entry from DNS: This would have the effect of forcing anyone who needed access the server to know the ip address. Do you want to do that? & of course, that assumes an ip network.<br>

Thanks Wayne Maples, that did the trick!

Below are some of the standard settings we use on all workstations. Keeps them out of the browse list and also reduces boradcast traffic by keeping them out of browser elections.<br>

======================================================<br>
REGEDIT4<br>

; --- Prevent machine from functioning as browser server<br>
; --- Prevent participation in master browser elections<br>
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters]<br>
&quot;IsDomainMaster&quot;=&quot;FALSE&quot;<br>
&quot;MaintainServerList&quot;=&quot;No&quot;<br>
<br>
; --- Prevent machine from broadcasting browser info or appearing in browse list<br>
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters]<br>
&quot;hidden&quot;=dword:00000001<br>
