I have an AD domain with 6 W2K servers and 8 Citrix servers. Two(2) of the W2K servers are Domain Controllers. I built and installed a W2K3 server last week and I wanted it to be just a "plain" old file/application server. Well, somehow, during the install process, and before I defined server roles, I inadvertantly allowed it to join the domain...it became a Domain Controller and I do not want it to be a DC. I did some research and found that DCPromo, with the /forceremoval switch, should bring up the AD installation wizard and allow me the option to remove the unwanted DC server from the AD structure. I attempted to run DCPromo /forecedremoval as directed and when the AD Installation Wizard comes up, I am not offered the option to remove the server from the AD Forest. I am getting the impression that, because this is the only 2K3 server in the domain, that I cannot do a /ForceRemoval...is this true? Does anyone have an answer for removing this server from the Domain as a DC short of rebuilding the NOS/OS on the box?>
