Ok,
Here is the situation and problem. Inherited a DNS flawed network with currently 2 machines replicating DNS, AD and WINS. One the primary dc is w2k. The second machine is a 2003 enterprise server.
I want to remove the 2k machine from the network all together but because I have not been able to figure out the DNS problem I cannot demote the 2k machine and promote the 2003 machine.
The 2k machine btw is the primary DC on this network and the 2003 machine is secondary. I think the DNS problems started when the 2k machine was disconnected from the network during a switching problem (for about 7 days from what I understand.)
Anyhow rather than track down the DNS issue I would prefer to just ditch the 2k machine as I have a brand new 2003 machine itching to take its place.
Any ideas?
Screach.....the sound of your world coming to an end at the sight of the dreaded BSOD!
