Remove sales order item in partially shipped order

Hi, How do I remove a sales order line item in O/E 6.0 if other line items on the sales order have already been shipped?
When I try to delete the line item, it tells me it's not possible because part of the order has already been shipped (although no qty of the item I want to delete has been shipped).

Do I have to set qty ordered to zero for the lien item and change the line to completed instead?
