I have a report that I don't want anyone to print. Does anyone know how to remove only the print function from a report? Thanks!

Maybe the simplest way would be to make the Print menu item and toolbar button unavailable. To do this, you'd make a duplicate of the Menu Bar, Print Preview toolbar, and Print Preview shortcut menu, but omitting the Print button from each. Then set the Menu Bar, Toolbar, and Shortcut Menu properties of the Report to the Print-less versions.

If you haven't created custom menus and toolbars before, you'll need to read the help file starting with the topic Command bars, subtopic Overview in Access 97. Then continue by reading the topics about creating custom menus and toolbars.

It's fairly easy to make a copy of a menu bar or toolbar control, by holding down Ctrl as you drag it from the default menu or toolbar to your custom one. You need to hold down Ctrl when you do this, because otherwise you will move the control instead of copying it. BUT: If you copy a whole menu this way, and then modify the contents of the menu, the original menu you copied will be modified as well. Since you need to delete the Print button from the File menu on your custom menu bar, you can't just copy the File menu. Instead, you need to add a new menu to your custom menu bar, set its name to &File, and then copy the items from the default menu bar's File menu to it (except for the Print item, of course). For the other menus, you can just copy the menus themselves to your custom menu bar, because you don't need to modify them.

Creating a custom shortcut menu is a little trickier than creating a custom menu or toolbar. First you have to create the new toolbar, then click the Properties button in the Customize dialog and change its Type property to "Popup". Access then shows a message that explains that the menu has been moved onto the Shortcut Menus toolbar. You then have to close the Toolbar Properties dialog, and click the check box next to Shortcut Menus on the Toolbars tab of the Customize dialog. When you do that, a menu bar named Shortcut Menus is displayed. Its rightmost menu is Custom, and when you click it, it drops down to show your custom shortcut menu bar. You can then copy buttons from the Print Preview shortcut menu (which is under the Report menu on the Shortcut Menus menu bar) to your custom shortcut menu, again omitting the Print item of course.
