Hi there,

I probably need to remove a node from a cluster. Failover to this node of my cluster group doesn't work anymore.

I know I can choose evict node.

Before I do this, I would like to know some things:

- Does anyone have experience with it?
- Can I expect problems with this option?
- Can I rejoin the node with the same hostname after reinstalling the box?

With regards,
Bart

I would always try to resolve an issue before evicting a node. The only time I would evict a node is when the cluster node has a catastrophic hardware failure and you have to re-build or replace the server. Could you provide more info on the cluster.
What is it being used for? (SQL, Printing, File Server, app server, Exchange).
What errors are showing up in the event logs? Post Event ID's and description.
Is the server having HW issues?
Is your cluster Hardware and Setup supported under the guidelines set by Microsoft?
Describe the HW Setup.

Any info you can provide will help.

Agreed evicting a node should be a last resort technique only. As Kenny asked what is showing up in the event logs? What kind of cluster is it? What issues are you seeing?
