Hi

I have a volume group that was corrupted and would not mount. I was rebuilding the box so instead of spending hours trying to recover the volume group, I simply created another vg and file systems. However, the corrupted vg is still listed with lsvg but will not varyon because "...there are no good copies of the descriptor area.". lspv does not show the hdisks for the corrupted volume group but lspv hdiskX shows the disks with their missing VGDAs

I would like to remove the corrupted vg and hdisks from the system. How do I remove the volume group and hdisk references from the odm... does anyone know of a smart command that will not cause havoc to my database?

Many thanks

Try

rmdev -l hdisk* -d

This should update the ODM, then run cfgmgr (Not if on HACMP)

Unix *is* user friendly. It's just selective about who its friends are.

hi

Thanks a lot for that. Yes, got rid of the hdisks but the corrupted volume group is still listed with lsvg. Any idea as to how to remove this?

Cheers
