Each file I open now shows the extras grid, I now must do a ctrl H or click View > Extras to shut down the grid.

I do admit I was screwing around quite a bit but would like to get back to "no grid" on open status.

Sorry, the above post should have read Ctrl+'

D'Oh!

(perhaps the forum host could remove it? Thank you.)

Thanks dimoj that's what I needed.

The Ctrl + H (toggles Extras) also got rid of the grid lines but not permanently. What exactly are the Extras?

mscallisto, look in the view menu. turn off extras from there.

when I did ctrl H or click View > Extras
to shut down the grid, it didn't stay shut down.

Dimoj's solution Ctrl+ shut them down permanently.
