How can i remove the frame which surrounds a textbox?

Using Quark 8.1.

Thanks in advance.

hi jsgs

Highlight the frame, then under item select Frame, then choose Frame and select 0 (zero).

Hope this helps

I've tried that IMacQuarker, but the frame still appears. It's just the thickness of the line which has reduced.

Go under view and choose Hide Guides and see if it disappears.
Does it print? or you just looking at the guide for a frame which is normal?

I did not print it but exported the layout as PDF. The frames did not appear. You are right. I was just looking at the guide for a frame. But when I choose Hide guides the frames don't disappear. Does it exist some way for me to look at the layout like it will appear when printing? Like Print Preview we have in Office apps?

A few more questions:

Is there any means I can pick a color from a picture to be used in my layout? I'm using CMYK. I've tried different combinations but I can't get the colour I want.

About character formatting, I don't see a great number of options for enhancing the look of my text. For example, adding an outline of a different colour to a character. I scanned all the Item menu options but didn't find anything on that. Am i missing something or is that these options are not available in Quark?

I've justified text in a text box. Quark adds much white space on the last line to justify the text. How can I remove this white space?

I've exported 3 different layouts to PDF. All 3 layouts have coloured background and text. But when I opened the PDFs all the backgounds are black and all text white. Why?

Please help. I'm relatively new to Quark. I've been scanning lots of tutorials to get to do what I want. But I didn't find anything.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Problem sending to PDF solved. Please help for the others.

if the object is still selected you will still see the frame, so deselect everything

you have to use photoshop

you have to use another application for that, like illustrator

do not use forced justify, just use justify

Try this.

For colors try going under Edit Color, then under Model choose a color style by clicking on it then use the chart to find the color you want.

If you have a short last line in a paragraph, one word or a hyphenated word use kerning to adjust, by kerning the whole paragraph or the last couple of lines.
See sample of kerning.

All of the above done. Thanks a lot for your help guys. One more question. How do I put press marks? I've seen there is a crop mark available in the Print dialog, but when I select the option nothing appears on my layout.

...crop marks are positioned in the print stream automatically when crop marks are enabled in the print dialog, they don't effect the ACTUAL document...

...the trim marks are positioned automatically to the four corners of the document size when printed, although you also need to ensure your print setup page size is large enough to accommodate the marks (adding 30mm to the trimmed size width and height is sufficient), also ensure centered is enabled in the print dialogue, under the label "DEVICE", at the top of the list, panel on the left...

...you also may need a PPD that allows for custom paper sizes to be input...

...to add crop marks to your quark document you need to literally increase the document size, manually draw them on, and print to that document size without crop marks enabled in the print setup (as they would already be on the quark page anyway)...

...quark do provide software called "Quark Print Collection" which allows for automatic item marks and also imposed output, however this is only currently available for Quark 7 only:

...also to add, if you export to PDF, in the options dialog (button at the bottom), you will notice that you can't specify a custom page size...

...when crop marks are enabled in the PDF options, quark will automatically adjust the document size upon export and accommodate the marks to fit, again, this doesn't effect the ACTUAL document, only happens behind the scenes in the export stream...

...PDF export is slightly different to the file > print dialog...
