Remove documents from Work menu 2

Can anyone tell me how you remove a document from the Work menu? (Tools, Customize, Commands, Built in Menus, Work. Drag onto menu bar. Click on Add to Work Menu to add the document you are working on to the list.)

It's a great feature but how do you take them off when you no longer need the link to the document?

Press Ctrl Alt -
The cursor will change to a thick black minus sign
Click on the Work menu
Move the thick black line to the document you wish to remove
Left click

That should do it

I would love for this to work, but when I get the thick black bar, I can not open the Work menu.
