I have a pint to point t-1 between to sites both with option 11's. Right now the t-1 firts goes to an addtran device that splits some chanels off that used to be used for data. I dont want those deivices in the mix anymore. Can I just take the t-1 from the addtran on both ends and connect them directly to the pbx and have it work? I dont even need to use all the chanels, I know if I want to I will need to add the first 6 chanels to the rout. I am hoping for a quick t-1 move, and possibly add the chanels later.

Below is a print out of the t-1 in question.

Yes, but the ADTRANS are most likely a CSU also so you will need to replace them with another CSU

What Adtran device model are you using? TSU 120?, Atlas 550 or 800? The model info will help us help you with this.

As PERRYPJ says, you will still need a CSU. More than likely your PBX takes the DSX-1 output from the Adtran device - as an example lets say its a TSU120 which has a built-in DSX-1 output, and you currently split off the 6 channels to the V.35.

This is easy to do.

The Adtran TSU 120 has two configurations - A and B. One of the configurations is an active config. Through the front menu make a copy of it to the other one, and go thru the menu and deactivate/idle the first 6 channels, rather than sending them to the V.35 interface. Then make this configuration tne active one. Do this on the other end also.

You may have to look at clocking, etc., also. But this should get you started.

...to clarify the above post, basically, you more than likely still need a CSU in the line. If you really don't need to reallocate these Adtran devices anywhere else you might as well keep it as a CSU (albeit expensive), rather than purchasing new CSUs.

Later on when you get a chance to add those channels to your PBX, just assign those channels to the DSX-1 output on both DSU units to pass all of the channels from the telco side to the DSX-1 side.
