I have been assigned the task of removing SQL Server from our Crystal Report Web Server and replace it with a less expensive version of SQL Server.
Just what are the steps that I need to take to get this done without losing any valuable CE85 data?
Will I have to remove CR and then reinstall CR on the new SQL Server?
I plan on backing up the CE85 database and then reinstall the CE85 database once the new version of SQL Server has been added. Tell me I am on the right path here.

Thanks for any help.

A couple of different ways:
1.) Migrate existing CMS database to a different machine altogether, delete existing SQL Server and replace with "Cheap" version, migrate back from the other machine.
2.) Shut down CE, detach database, remove and replace SQL Server, re-attach database.

I think both of these options will work. Any one else have better insight?

I would use Bob's 2nd idea, detaching and reattaching is faster than a migrate or a backup/restore, but in any case make sure that you have a complete backup available.
