Hi All,

We currently run a 2003 exchange server which handles mail for multiple domain names and companies.

We could like one of the companies to be more independent and move to a hosted exchange package.

Once I set up the hosted exchange account and point the MX records to it. Do I just need to delete the domain name from recipient policies in Exchange (so we can send mail to this company without exchange thinking that it still handles the mail)

Any issues I should watch out for?

Many Thanks

Just an FYI - Deleting the domain name from a recipient policy doesn't remove it from any users. It just doesn't apply it to any more users.

ah,

so if i remove it from all the users this will stop our exchange thinking that it still handles the mail for that domain name?

As soon as you remove it from the recipient policy, Exchange no longer thinks it's authoritative for that SMTP domain. Hence, it won't accept mail for it.
