Hello,

I am working on a W2K server that has a Benchmark DLT VS80 tape drive and I get the following error when trying to access the device.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10010
Date:
Time:
User:
Computer:
Description:
The server {D61A27C6-8F53-11D0-BFA0-00A024151983} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

I have only gotten a couple good backups and the rest error out with I/O errors. Now I started getting this DCOM error.

Has anyone come across this before?

Thanks

Hi,

I have not run into that error, but try loading dcomcnfg and registering it.

I was also told that if you are not using NTBACKUP, then stop and disable the removable storage service. Having RS running and using BENT can cause miscellaneous issues.

I'll try both of these... Thanks for the input!!
