I don't see my removable drive in My Computer screen anymoe. the red light on the drive was visible. I removed the drive and replaced it and its red light in no longer there and it's still not in the My Computer screen. Also the safe removal for removable drive icon is no longer in the system tray at the lower right of my screen. How can this be fixed?

I assume this is a USB drive.
Go to Control Panel & choose Administrative tools, then Computer Management. Then under Storage, go to Disk Management.
Does the drive show up in there?
If so, assign a drive letter to it.
Another thing to try is to remove all of the USB hub drivers from within device manager, reboot the machine & allow Windows to re-install all of the drivers.
Also, have you tried a different USB port?

The drive does not appear in Disk Management. If I go to Storage-Removable Storage-Physical Locations there are two 'Crucial USB Flash Disk USB Device' with a red X. Under these are Media and Devices. Click Media and nothing shows in window to the right. Click Devices and right window says Device not present. The flash drive is in the USB port but drive has no red light on it. I tried other USB ports but drive doesn't work. Will try your last option.

I will be off the air for a while as hurricane Dean is about to hit us here in Jamaica. I should be safe and I hope to be able to return soon.

Good luck during the storm mate. It has been reported about over here in the UK. Doesn't sound good.

I rode out the storm well. No damage suffered. Just got back electricity and when I booted my PC the removable drive appeared in 'My Computer'. It seems to be working ok. I don't know why the problem occurred but I will monitor the drive. Appreciate all the help.

Glad you are OK & to hear that your drive has re-apeared.
Don't you just love Windows. lol
