I'm trying to figure out a way to set share permissions over my network. I'd like not to have to be physically at the pc to do this. Is there any way? I've tried using the Computer Management with the MMC and Dameware. It's a Windows 2000 network and I have access to domain admin rights.

Thanks for the help.

There are no utilities to remotely create share permissions, but there are utilties that come close enough.

The utilities to do this are found in the Resource Kit.

PERMCOPY \\source sname \\destination dname

This replicates the existing permissions on \\source sname to a different computer and different sharename. sname is some existing sharename on \\source that has a permissions set you wish to copy.

RMTSHARE \\computer\sname=path /GRANT guser=permission /REMOVE ruser

This allows you to create a new share with permissions, or to remove a user from the permissions on an existing share.

sname is the name of the share
The other values are identical to the parameters of the NET SHARE command.
