remotely rebooting an Octel

we have an Octel 250 that, on occasion, loses integration with our Opt. 11 PBX. When this happens we call our maintenance vendor, who remotely reboots it. How difficult is it to do this in the event I am unable to reach maintenance vendor and need to do it myself? Thank you in advance for your help.
 
well I think the question should be why is it losing integration? Are you using FLT N's on the system or a dmid or something else ?

As far as the reboot you would be fine to just power it off and then back on but I don't think that that is the right thing to do. Your provider should figure out what the cause is
 
Hi coniglio

Our experience with "lost integration" between the PBX and the voice mail system or other (PC) application, is lack of grounding (or none) between the mentioned units.
The integration could be in-band DTMF or RS-232 (V24), but to have a stable integration excellent grounding is required.
Also use ferrite cores on all lines to the voice mail system.

If you still need to reboot the system remotely, go to menu 13.1. Even though it says Shut Down with Dump, the system will automatically reboot once it's finished. You should still have somebody on-site during bootup just incase it prompts for something.
 
HmmG3:

The system will not automatically REBOOT after using the shutdown command. You need human intervetion to make the system boot to a running state by entering An "A" at the enter boot command. If you turn the power off it will reboot on it's own.
