we have 2 training classrooms full of windows xp machines. We use several different usernames and profiles and have a windows 2000 ad domain. Is there a tool similar to shutdown.exe to remotely log windows xp pro machines in so that we wouldn't have to go to each machine and do it?

thanks

You can use tweakui to login automatically, but the login name would be static, unless you go to every machine when you need to change user names.

The only way I can think of, and perhaps someone else has dealt with this problem before, is to remotely edit the registry on the machines. If you can find where tweakui stores the login name, you could change the name that way. In theory, this would give you automatic logins, and you can remote control what login is being used.

If this happens to work, let me know, very curious.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
