Hi friends,
Can anybody help me to find out

1) What applications to which remote user use to connect, and which user is that...

Reason for asking....
When I checked with 'who', I found only 2 users including me. But I came to know that at the same time another person uses some data stored in my RS6000 through his application by using ODBC.

More Explanation....
I feel that my Informix database is been used by many users through establising a ODBC. But, how can I know, who connects to it. and is it required for them an AIX username and password? If so, why it is not in my "who"

Please Help me.............

Thanking you

Users that connect to the server first wil have usernames in /etc/passwd

those that connect remotely will only have usernames in your application / database

UNLESS

they all login with the same username :) then you have a problem!

Hi...

Further to my previous doubt.... How can I findout who all are remotely connected to my Informix database.

( I know that many connect using Crystal Reports, to generates many reports. They use ODBC to connect to informix database in my machine.)

I am not able to track when do they connect and what they do ....
Please Help me more

You will need to relate the process in AIX of the Crystal reports user to that of the IP address of the user

In the process list for AIX you will see processes which are the Crystal connections

You can relate these to the IP address given in who -u

If you have sufficiently documented PC network then you can relate the address to the user

Sorry I'm being a bit vague, but the system on which I had 400 + users and about 20 using Crystal is no longer with us.

Depending on what ODBC you are running you may be able to find out throught the ODBC log file(s) usually kept in the /lib directory where the ODBC resides.

For example on the One I have it is found in /usr/openlink5/lib

Hi

Thank you for the suggestion. But really I do not know there will be something running in my Server, which helps the ODBC connectivity from other machines. Let me find it out more.

Thank you
