Hi,

Sometimes I have to access my friend's pc. We both running Win XP Pro SP2. What is my best option besides, of course putting the check mark to allow Remote Assistance (My Computer, Properties, Remote). Of course, we both have a high speed internet connection.

Thanks,
Alex

VNC, my favorite version being UltraVNC. You will have to allow through firewall and forward the ports too.

There are a number of others.

Any of the above will do the trick! MSN is probably the easiest but always requires confirmation on the other end.

If you wish to set it so that no confirmation is required, use LogMeIn or VNC (providing it is set not to require confirmation, that is)

logmein to me is easier than vnc imho. yes vnc is awesome but if you are behind a router and not connected directly to the modem you will have to configure the dmz and possibly port forwarding. Yeah that isn't that hard, but can be for users that do not have much experience with it.

Install a program called Hamachi to create a tunnel through the firewalls, and then use VNC. Both are free and relatively easy to use, and you can choose to only run them on both ends when you need to connect to ensure security.
