Remotely Administer COM+

Hi,

I have some users who will need to reset COM+ on certain boxes, - I dont want them to log onto these boxes directly, nor do I want to give them administrator rights.

Anyone know a way I can do this, - as I can't see the option to remotely manage COM+ via the MMC console?

You can use dcomcnfg.exe (Start->Run->Dcomcnfg.exe). This loads the Component Services MMC. Expand Component Services-->Computers right-click and select New->Computer. From there you should be able to work with the COM services remotely.
Bare in mind though that users will still need to have the appropriate rights to be able to change config settings/stop/start services etc.

Ah, right excellent. Thanks for that.

It appears though, that users also need administratitive rights on the server they're using this from, - which is another thing I do not wish to grant them...
