We've got a Linux RH 7.3 Server running samba for our file server. We need to be able to access those shares from two different remote locations. Our server is connected to the internet by a Cayman 3220 DSL Router and one of the remote offices is connected by a Direcway Satellite and the other by a Starband Satallite. We've tried to use poptop in the past and was unable to get it configured, but since then we've been told that VPN's do not run well over the satellite. Supposedly the speeds aren't much better than dialup. Direcway Tech support suggested using NAT for remote networking (He was not any more specific than that). With all of that being said; Does anyone have any suggestions of a fast and secure way of networking these offices?

Sorry I can't help you, other than to suggest that you also try the Samba forum at forum865

Using NAT may well be insecure - VPNs would be the best bet... ChrisCW
