Remotely Access my website using my IP Addy

Hello All!

Im new to this forum. So thank you for your help.

I just setup my first apache server, and I can navigate to localhost, but I want to use my IP Address to navigate to the same site.

Can I simply type in my IP address

http://69.228.89.181

and view my website?

I have two firewalls. But theyre configured to allow port 80 access. The Ip address thing isnt working for me. I tried to do

http://69.228.89.181:80

as well but that didnt work either. Any ideas?

Is your server's address actually 69.228.89.81? I assume not, since you have 2 firewalls.

Have you forwarded port 80 to your server through one or both firewalls? Allowing port 80 isn't the same as telling the firewall(s) which device should receive the requests on port 80.

Also make sure Apache is working properly by at least accessing it from another computer on your LAN.

Yeah its the external Ip address -- the one that my router is using. My internal address is localhost.. whatever the ip is for that..

works but I havent been able to accomplsih the same thing using my computers IP on the same computer.. I have a 2wire.net router from SBC Yahoo. There doesnt seem to be a way to do port forwarding on it..

localhost" (which is 127.0.0.1) is only visible to the local computer. If you try your computer's actual address, something like

http://192.168.0.100,

and it still doesn't work, then it might be either your computer's firewall software or the Apache configuration. Turn off the firewall if one is in use. Also check the Apache configuration, especially any Listen and VirtualHost sections to make sure it's not listening only on 127.0.0.1
